Elpidio Quirino

Elpidio Quirino

He was born on Nov. 16, 1890, in Vigan, Philippines and died Feb. 28, 1956, in Novaliches. Before he was a political leader and the second president of the independent Republic of the Philippines.

After obtaining a law degree from the University of the Philippines, near Manila, in 1915, Quirino practiced law until he was elected a member of the Philippine House of Representatives in 1919–25 and a senator in 1925–31. In 1934 he was a member of the Philippine independence mission to Washington, D.C., headed by Manuel Quezon which secured the passage in Congress of the Tydings McDuffie Act, setting the date for Philippine independence as July 4, 1946. He was also elected to the convention that drafted a constitution for the new Philippine Commonwealth. Subsequently he served as secretary of finance and secretary of the interior in the Commonwealth government.

After WorldWar II, Quirino served as secretary of state and vice president under the first president of the independent Philippines, Manuel Roxas. When Roxas died on April 15, 1948, Quirino succeeded to the presidency. The following year, he was elected president for a four-year term on the Liberal Party ticket, defeating the Nacionalista candidate.

President Quirino’s administration faced a serious threat in the form of the Communist-led Hukbalahap movement. Though the Huks originally had been an anti-Japanese guerrilla army in Luzon, the Communists steadily gained control over the leadership, and, when Quirino’s negotiations with Huk commander Luiz Taruc broke down in 1948, Taruc openly declared himself a Communist and called for the overthrow of the government. By 1950 the Huks had gained control over a considerable portion of Luzon, and Quirino appointed the able Ramon Magsaysay as secretary of national defense to suppress the insurrection.

Quirino’s six years as president were marked by notable postwar reconstruction, general economic gains, and increased economic aid from the United States. Basic social problems, however, particularly in the rural areas, remained unsolved; Quirino’s administration was tainted by widespread graft and corruption. The 1949 elections, which he had won, were among the most dishonest in the Country's history. Magsaysay, who had been largely successful in eliminating the threat of the Huk insurgents, broke with Quirino on the issue of corruption, campaigning for clean elections and defeating Quirino as the Nacionalista candidate in the presidential election of 1953. Subsequently, Quirino retired to private life.

“Together4Teachers” (Draft #4)

Presence of Mind

Dedication, advocacies, determination, and reflection, these are some of the dedicated traits of a teacher. They have crossed the barrier of being just a teacher, they have been concurred that the effectiveness of learning is to give students a chance to work individually in the process of them to build their own critical thinking. As this being said, teachers are not just a teacher, because teacher is a mother. A mother that will effectively turn a kid into a child.

They are in their own beliefs, a honored presence that holds the mentality of a good human being. That reflected as the most powerful mind-blowing. In the process of making, they were believing, as they trust the student respectively on their own generating. Teachers words will be always mark to our minds.

My gratitude to all of you, teachers, holds a significant presence that undoubtedly make you smile. Beyond all  of  the consequences, teachers are always right.

These reminds us, students, to be more responsible, to pay all the hard works,  sweat, and even tears. I therefore conclude that the influence of teacher extends beyond the classroom, well into the future.

THEMATIC

As we enter the month of September, we embark into a new beginning of cleansed, filtered, and clean environment. This time of the month, is the national Clean-up Drive, pertaining on giving a huge break upon causing distress to the environmental matter. This path was refraining to bad traits, giving the society to move forward to a new beginning. Generating this kind of step was a great improvement of all the national constituents.

As a student, I want the environment to be the greatest in the list of all the leading important matter in life.

Being able to do the things to make the environment clean was the best thing to feel.

Keep the surrounding clean and the environment will do the thing.

These behavior is definitely  the effective way to save the dying soul of the beloved environment. As we continue doing such thing, we can beat the undying problem that our environment is facing right now.

The learnings (Draft #5)

As we delved deeper into this field, we encountered new discoveries and adventures. As this began, I was expecting this to be a lot more about computer technologies, not until I realized this subject was a lot more to give knowledge, sharpen, and widen our insights about its discoveries. This matter stands to be the most powerful objective for the subject to be absorb.

One of the challenges I've encountered is not being able to hop up  with the movement of the subject. As well as the low communication given. With this, it regards the less communication between the teacher and students, however,  we still able to manage these situation by not letting any matter be the barrier.

Those experiences have given me the strength to face those given challenges I have encountered during the process of learning. As those are the "lessons learned" I've been walking through the time.

Moving on, I will keep to dig deeper to the depth of it's surrounds. I know that this aspect, provides a matter of elements to be produced for the future events, I conclude that this subject has the ability to provide a mindful knowledge.

DREAM ON

15 years ago, a girl was given a chance to embrace the reality of the world. The moment I opened my eyes, was the beginning of all my journey, my life and my reality. I was that typical kid, jolly, happy and naughty. To the following years, I became more jolly and playful. I wasn't expecting much since I grew up living with my grandparents. For that, my mother who should be the one who's dealing with us, our needs persuaded her to work abroad.  As soon as I entered the life of teenage stage, the more that I realized that life is worth living for. All of the struggles I've Been fought became my motivations and inspires me to become the person whom I want to be. Those things makes me wonder "how life will be when things get rough, again?"

That's when all of my experiences combined and made me stand out alone through every matter in life. I'm not just basing my life from the past, instead I'm preparing myself to the event that might happen to the future. For that, I gathered all of my strength and weaknesses as to be the strongest warrior in my own beliefs. I am not that sociable person, not that type of extrovert, but I am that kind of vocal person. Other says I might hurt there feelings, regarding to what I say. For me, being this vocal says everything, as this personality was crossing the barrier of miscommunications. I always say
